LOS ANGELES, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Renée Zellweger won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for "Cold Mountain" at the 76th Academy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday.
It is Zelleger's first Oscar. She was nominated for Best Actress last year for "Chicago," and Best Actress in 2001 for "Bridget Jones's Diary."

Zellweger won for her performance as a tough Southern woman helping a sheltered woman, played by Nicole Kidman, cope with farm life while men were away fighting the Civil War."
