ATLANTA, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has donated $5 million to historically black Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Winfrey was honored with a humanitarian service award during the college's 137th Founder's Week at a gala last Saturday. Over the past 15 years, Winfrey had already given $7 million to Morehouse, an all-male college and alma mater of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher and filmmaker Spike Lee.

Her latest gift to the Oprah Winfrey Endowed Scholarship Fund brings her total contribution to the school to $12 million.

"My dream was, when I started making money, to pass it on and I wanted to put 100 men through Morehouse," said Winfrey. "Right now we're at 250 and I want to make it a thousand..."

Founded in 1867, Morehouse is the nation's largest, private liberal arts college for men.
