BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Pop star Nick Lachey hit back at rumors his marriage to Jessica Simpson is on the rocks, telling NBC's "Access Hollywood" their relationship is great.
Lachey and Simpson are also the stars of the MTV reality series "The Newlyweds," which has been chronicling their personal lives since they got married.
In an interview with Access Hollywood's Tony Potts Thursday, Lachey acknowledged that with success "people are always going to be looking for ways to tear you down."
"Marriage is great," he said. "To be honest with you, it's really not that hard at all."
Lachey said he and his wife have a strong support system in place and that wounded egos are truly never an issue for them.
"We have always supported each other, and we've always worked together even when I was in 98 Degrees and she was a new artist... opening for us," he explained. "Our relationship has always kind of been involved with our careers, so we just always help each other no matter what. She does well I do well, I do well, she does well, we're all on the same team."
