LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- As the popular HBO series "Sex and the City" comes to an end Sunday, plans to reunite the cast in a big screen version are gearing up in Hollywood.
Michael Patrick King, executive producer of the series, is writing a script for a "Sex and the City" motion picture he will direct and that will star series regulars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall, Daily Variety reported Wednesday.
There is no start date for the film, nor is a theatrical distributor named. HBO, however, is exploring all options and could have a game plan by the time King turns in his script, which is expected by May.
The "Sex and the City" film would be King's feature film directorial debut. He directed the Emmy award-winning episode, "The Real Me," in 2002.
Created by Darren Star in 1998, "Sex and the City" started as a serial that Candace Bushnell wrote for the New York Observer.
