NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Clear Channel Radio and Sony Music have announced they are launching a talent contest to discover and promote the next big "Radio Star."

Scheduled to run as a one-hour weekly radio show for 14 weeks, the competition will be presided over by "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest and New York radio personality Elvis Duran.

Starting Feb. 16, contestants may enter the competition through a "Radio Star" Web site.

Sony executives will then choose applicants to compete during the show, after which fans voting on Ratethemusic.com will select three lucky finalists.

A two-hour finale will feature the top three competitors and three as-yet-unannounced Sony-affiliated artists, Billboard reports.

The winner will be awarded contracts with Sony Music and the William Morris Agency, appearances at the Clear Channel-sponsored Jingle Ball holiday concerts in New York and Los Angeles, and $50,000 for a wardrobe and makeover. The two runners-up will receive demo deals with Sony.
