Honors for jazz fund director, others

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Seven men and women are to be honored for community work during the Artist Empowerment Coalition's Grammy Sunday Brunch.

The honorees are Wendy Oxenhorn, executive director of the Jazz Foundation of America; composer Marilyn Bergman; singers Chaka Khan and Queen Latifah; filmmaker F. Gary Gray; state Sen. Kevin Murray, D-Los Angeles; and Steve McKeever of Hidden Beach Records.

The coalition and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers are sponsoring the pre-Grammy annual event at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

The coalition was started by Stevie Wonder, Prince, Roberta Flack and Londell McMillan to honor individuals and organizations who give to the community through their work in the arts.
