TEMPLETON, Calif., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek escaped serious injury after his truck dove off an embankment 40 feet into the air, near Templeton, Calif.

The California Highway Patrol said the 63-year-old game show host was driving his pickup truck Friday down a rural road when he apparently fell asleep, ran through a series of mailboxes, soared into the air over an embankment and landed in a ditch, E!Online reported.

Police said he walked away from from the wreck.

A "Jeopardy" publicist had no comment on Trebek's condition.

Trebek, a native of Canada who is now a naturalized U.S. citizen, has been the host of the syndicated quiz show "Jeopardy" since 1984.
