United Nations open for Pollack filming

NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The United Nations will open its doors to Sydney Pollack to shoot his upcoming film, "The Interpreter."

The Hollywood Report reveals that U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan has agreed in principle to allow a film crew inside United Nations headquarters in New York.

Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn are set to star in the thriller, with Catherine Keener also starring as a Secret Service agent. Negotiations to film starting in March have been ongoing for months between the U.N. and the film's producers.

The agreement was confirmed Thursday during the organization's daily press briefing. Precise guidelines, said U.N. spokeswoman Marie Okabe, have not been worked out yet, but it is agreed they will shoot only on weekends when the United Nations is not in session.
