LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Evanescence singer Amy Lee chose her boyfriend to escort her to the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, leaving her parents behind in Little Rock, Ark.

"She wants to take her boyfriend. She's a normal 22-year-old," said John Lee, the rock singer's dad, who explained his daughter received only one ticket.

If his band isn't touring, Amy Lee will attend the Feb. 8 ceremony with Seether's Shaun Morgan.

"Actually, it's more fun to see her on TV from my living room in Maumelle without all the Hollywood glitz," Lee said in Friday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

John Lee is a disc jockey with KDRE-FM 101.1 in Little Rock, where the rest of the Lee family lives.

Evanescence received five Grammy nominations, including best rock album of the year for their debut, "Fallen," and best new artist.

In October, band co-founder Ben Moody left in the midst of the band's first world tour. He currently is working with Avril Lavergne and on Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ."

If Evanescence picks up any Grammys, Lee and Moody are set to accept the statues together.
