LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Mos Def, hip-hop artist and actor, film actress Zooey Deschanel, and star of TV's "The Office," Martin Freeman, have joined forces for a movie.

They will be part of the big-screen adaptation of the cult hit novel by Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," coming from Spyglass Entertainment/Walt Disney, Hollywood Reporter writes.

Mos Def will play Ford Prefect, an alien who disguises himself as an out-of-work actor and sets out on an intergalactic journey with his best friend, mild-mannered earthling, Arthur Dent (Freeman).

On a quest to discover the meaning of life, they hitch a ride through space with the two-headed president of the galazy, the beautiful and brilliant scientist Trillion (Deschanel) and a depressed robot.

The novel has sold millions worldwide.
