Drama pilots picked up for the fall

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- An untitled medical mystery project from NBC Studios was among the drama pilot pickups Tuesday.

A cast-contingent go-ahead was also given to Bob Cooper's Landscape Entertainment, Hollywood Reporter writes.

Fox committed to an also-untitled Kathryn Bigelow/Kessler brothers venture coming from 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV.

In this latest round, UPN also signed on to "Beck and Call," "Nikki and Nora" and "Veronica Mars," three pilots from Warner Brothers TV.

Jason Horwitch of FX's "The Pentagon Papers" is the writer of the NBC medical mystery procedural show, which he is also executive producing with Bob Cooper and Scott Vila, head of Landscape's television unit. It is part of a pilot deal between Landscape and NBC signed in October for the production company to develop as many as three scripts and shoot a minimum of one pilot for a fall 2004 goal.
