NBC airing 'Queer Eye' against Super Bowl

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- NBC has decided to air a block of cable shows, including "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," against CBS' prime time broadcast of the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.

NBC will air three episodes of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," from the Bravo Channel aimed at capturing non-football viewers. The network also will air "Travel Channel World Poker Tour Battle of Champions" at 4 p.m. EST, opposite pre-game events, Zap2it.com reported Tuesday.

Networks, which typically choose not to compete with the high ratings of the Super Bowl, occasionally provide controversial counter programming aimed at luring non-football fans, as NBC is doing this year with "Queer Eye."

NBC has aired "Queer Eye" four times since the makeover series debuted on Bravo, its sister cable network last summer.
