Teen stars revisit classic Disney songs

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Teen stars, such as Hilary Duff and Raven, are bringing the likes of "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" to a new generation with the Jan. 27 release of "Disneymania2."

Less than 18 months after the release of the inaugural "Disneymania" collection, Walt Disney Records will release the second edition, Billboard announced Friday, gathering its top Disney Channel stars to remake some of the entertainment giant's classic hits.

The featured track on "Disneymania2" is a version of "The Lion King" song "Circle of Life" by the Disney Channel's Circle of Stars. The collaboration features network stars such as Duff ("Lizzie McGuire"), Raven ("That's So Raven"), Christy Carlson Romano ("Kim Possible," "Even Stevens"), Anneliese van der Pol ("That's So Raven") and Orlando Brown ("The Proud Family").

Elton John's original recording of "The Circle of Life" reached No. 2 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart in 1994.

Other tracks include "When You Wish Upon A Star" by Ashley Gearing, "It's A Small World" by Baha Men and "He's A Tramp" by Beu Sisters.

The first "Disneymania" has sold 625,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
