PARK CITY, Utah, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Some of Hollywood's hottest stars are heading to Park City, Utah, this week for the Sundance Film Festival.

Founded by actor/director Robert Redford, the festival celebrates independent film.

The 2004 event kicks off Wednesday night with a screening of "Riding Giants," Stacy Peralta's history of surfing.

Julianne Moore is expected to attend the festival to support her black comedy, "Marie and Bruce," while Hilary Swank will be on hand to discuss her period film, "Iron Jawed Angels." A special screening of Nicole Kidman's film "Dogville" is also planned.

Attending the festival for the first time will be Ashton Kutcher. Best-known for playing characters who say "dude" a lot, Kutcher is promoting his new time-travel drama, "The Butterfly Effect."

Ben Affleck, Jane Fonda and Isabella Rossellini are also expected to arrive in time for Thursday's official opening.
