Iglesias patriarch, 87, to be new dad

MADRID, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- The patriarch of the Iglesias singing clan from Spain, which includes son Julio and grandson Enrique, will soon be a new father again at the age of 87.

Dr. Julio Iglesias, a gynecologist, and his 40-year-old wife, Ronna, are expecting a son in April, according to Wednesday's Times of London.

The baby will be brother to crooner Julio Iglesias, 61, who has recorded more than 250 records, including the hits "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" and "Begin the Beguine." He also wrote Ricky Martin's top hit "La Vida Loca."

The baby boy also will be uncle to 29-year-old Enrique, who has been a popular U.S. artist.

The senior Iglesias married his current wife in March 2002 in a secret ceremony that even excluded his children.

"I would have liked to have had children with Ronna," he said last year. "God willing, it could still happen."

Ronna Iglesias, who was treated at a U.S. hospital, became pregnant via artificial insemination.
