Barrymore dreams of writing book

NEW YORK, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- American actress Drew Barrymore admits she would love to write a book -- not a Hollywood tome, but a good old-fashioned work of literature.

"That would be my dream come true," Barrymore told UPI's Karen Butler in a recent interview.

"Just because I think writing literature is the most beautiful thing in the world," explained the 28-year-old star of "Charlie's Angels" and "Duplex." "It's like painting a great painting or making extraordinary music. It's like one of the most beautiful things that a human being can actually accomplish."

Barrymore described herself as an "obsessive" reader, noting she recently enjoyed Patrick Suskind's novella "The Pigeon" and Homer's classic "The Odyssey."

Barrymore can be seen next month in the romantic comedy "50 First Dates" opposite Adam Sandler, her co-star in the 1998 hit "The Wedding Singer."
