Bill Murray and Tokyo intrigued Johansson

LONDON, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Scarlett Johansson, up for two Golden Globe awards, said she wanted the role in "Lost In Translation" because working with Bill Murray in Tokyo intrigued her.

Director Sofia Coppola "said it would be with Bill Murray and that it would take place in Tokyo, and this seemed like two very appealing things -- Bill Murray and Tokyo," Johansson told the BBC News an article published Thursday.

"The script read so well, like a really great novel. When I finished it I was happy and I was sad and I just knew I could play the part," the 19-year-old actress said.

In "Lost In Translation," Johansson plays a neglected young wife in Tokyo who befriends an aging, disillusioned American actor, portrayed by Murray.

Johansson has been nominated for two Golden Globe awards for her role in "Lost In Translation" and "Girl With A Pearl Earring."
