LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- ABC is searching for adolescent identical twins to star in an upcoming series based on the classic "Parent Trap" film, Zap2It.com reported Monday.

In a five-city talent search, creators of the new comedy, are looking for twin sisters between the ages of 11 and 15 to star in the pilot episode. An open casting call will be held Jan. 10 at Ripley Greer Studios in New York City, with additional auditions to be held in Los Angeles, Chicago, Vancouver and Toronto.

"As multiple generations of moviegoers know, the role of the twins is pivotal," said Brian Robbins, show producer. "We are looking for identical 'teen' twin girls who interact well together, but also have charisma and strong personalities of their own."

In the original 1961 "Parent Trap" starring Hayley Mills, as well as the 1998 remake with Lindsay Lohan, producers used trick photography, process shots and body doubles for the twin sequences.
