HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Universal Studios Home Video announced "Seabiscuit" is the top holiday seller in DVD and VHS sales of more than $80 million, Zap2it.com reported.

The surge in spending also made it the year's best-selling drama released on DVD and VHS.

Released Dec. 16, the title sold 5 million units in its first six days of release.

"This is certainly a film that audiences loved and we were confident it would be just as enthusiastically embraced on DVD," states Craig Kornblau, president, Universal Studios Home Video.

The horse racing film recently received two Golden Globe nominations including best picture and best supporting actor -- drama for William H. Macy, and has earned over $120 million at the box office.

Named one of the year's best films by the National Board of Review, the film stars Tobey Maguire, Jeff Bridges, Academy Award-winner Chris Cooper ("Adaptation"), Elizabeth Banks, Macy, and Hall of Fame jockey/actor Gary Stevens.
