NEW YORK, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The cast of Tim Burton's new movie "Big Fish" experienced some good ol' southern hospitality while filming in Alabama.
"I just had my bags settled into my room and was just looking around and the doorbell rings and there is a man and a woman standing there with a hot pecan pie," Danny DeVito told reporters in New York recently.
"'Hi, y'all. How are you?' They're the neighbors and they just brought me a pie. It was just so far out. I didn't know what to do. I was like 'Come on in!' I wanted to give them a drink or something, but they were like, 'No, just wanted to bring you a pie.' Of course, I ate it. It was very good."
So, did the film's director welcome any pie-bearing visitors during his stay?
"I was sort of staying in the 'Blair Witch Project' district of Alabama," Burton explained. "I was sort of out of the way, which I was happy with. I know people like Ewan (McGregor,) there would be a knock at the door and I don't think Ewan and his family had to cook or buy a meal for the first few weeks. So, people are nice that way, but I'm not used to that kind of thing."
