BEIRUT, Lebanon, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- The latest craze to grab style-conscious Lebanese women is fashion nail salons, according to The Lebanon Daily Star.

In the last 10 years they have blossomed in commercial blocks in towns across the country. They offer the latest fashions in nail art and design from the United States and France, from rhinestone and glitter to acrylic nails set with colored stones.

"It's become a part of the everyday look," says Ani Azad, a licensed technician and owner of Miss Ani nail salon in Gemayzeh, who received a degree from Super Nail in the United States. "It's an accessory to an outfit or a suit."

Says Dina Fakhoury, general manager of Cosmetics and Fragrances Stores, "Nail designs are increasing immensely and so is the interest of visiting nail salons." When C&F introduced one at its Jal al-Dib branch early August there was already a waiting list.

The Chinese created nail polish around 3000BC from gum Arabic, egg whites, bees' wax and gelatin.
