Berklee and Billboard create jobs database

BOSTON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Boston's Berklee College of Music has teamed with Billboard magazine to expand its online career resource center into a comprehensive source for industry jobs.

Located at the BerkleeMusic.com Web site, plans are that the database will include all music-related vocations, from performance opportunities to business positions. The site currently is operational with 20,000 paid registrants.

"The goal of the project is to create the largest database of jobs and gigs in the music business on the planet," Dave Kusek, associate vice president Berklee, said at billboard.com.

A $49 membership fee allows access to the job listings, which are categorized by performance, production, writing, business and education opportunities. There is no charge for businesses or individuals to post the listings.

The 57-year-old Berklee College of Music, which focuses on contemporary music, calls itself the world's largest independent music college.
