Library Hotel settles Dewey Decimal suit

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A lawsuit charging trademark infringement recently was settled by the Library Hotel over ownership of the Dewey Decimal system.

According to the terms of the settlement, Manhattan's newest "indie" boutique hotel agreed to acknowledge the Online Computer Library Center's ownership of the Dewey Decimal system, and to make a financial donation to a non-profit organization that promotes reading by children.

The 60-room hotel is located on "Library Way" on Madison Avenue and 41st Street in Manhattan. Each room is elegantly decorated with framed art and contains a library that relate to the Dewey Decimal theme.

Apart from the usual amenities like plush robes and bottled water, guests can request a room based on their personal literary interests. The Literature floor, for instance, offers a poetry room, a classics room or an erotica room.

The other nine floors are dedicated to History, Social Sciences, Languages, Math and Science, General Knowledge, Technology, Philosophy, The Arts and Religion.
