No 'Kong' cameo for Lange

NEW YORK, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Jessica Lange says she has no plans to appear in Peter Jackson's upcoming re-make of "King Kong."

Told by reporters in New York the "Lord of the Rings" filmmaker was set to take on the great ape, the female star of the unpopular 1976 version of the 1933 Kong classic replied: "Is he really? Why?"

Insisting she had many fond memories of working on the first re-make, the Oscar-winning actress said she thought the evolution of special effects might be one reason filmmakers keep trying to improve upon the beauty and the beast tale.

"We were working in almost a very archaic (way) with a blue screen and a big mechanical paw," Lange noted, pointing out that computer technology has come a long was since 1976. "I'm sure they'll be able to do it in a way that it's much slicker, just like our re-make was much slicker than the original."

So if Jackson asked her to do a cameo in the film, would she?

"I doubt it," she said. "I don't find that all that interesting. I think it's a little arch, isn't it?"

Lange can be seen next opposite Albert Finney in Tim Burton's new film "Big Fish," due out later this month.
