HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Bing Crosby will receive a "centennial tribute" from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Nov. 21.

The tribute, to be held in the academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles, honors Crosby's cinematic success.

Bing Crosby was the biggest movie star in America from 1944 through 1948, when he held the number one box-office ranking in the country. In 1949 he slipped to number two, but stayed in the top five through the mid-1950s.

Among those scheduled to participate are Crosby's widow, Kathryn.
