
NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Jazz at Lincoln Center will salute the great women of jazz at its eighth annual awards gala and benefit concert on Nov. 17 at Avery Fisher Hall.
"Here's to the Ladies: A Celebration of Great Women in Jazz" will present the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and special guests Shirley Horn, Cleo Laine and Marian McPartland. They will celebrate the achievements of Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald and their influence on subsequent generations of singers and players.
CBS News correspondent Ed Bradley, a JALC board member, will host the event. JALC will present its Award for Artistic Excellence to vocalist Shirley Horn. Its Award for Leadership will be presented to Phoebe Jacobs, executive vice president of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation.
