LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Actor Jeff Goldblum, star of "Earth Girls Are Easy," has signed a talent deal with NBC to star in a new series aimed at the fall of 2004.

The deal follows Goldblum's role in the network's two-hour movie pilot, "War Stories," for the 2002 development season, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

He also has appeared on "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment," guest starred on "Friends" and he can next be seen in the Showtime original, "Spinning Boris."

"Whatever role Jeff Goldblum has inhabited, a leading or supporting, he always pops," Kevin Reilly, NBC's president of primetime development, told The Hollywood Reporter.

"He's got that unique quality of being offbeat and, at the same time, approachable and likable, which makes him perfect to build a show around."
