LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- The popular newspaper comic strip Luann, is set to be turned into a half-hour television show.
Dick Clark Productions, which acquired rights to create the show, said Wednesday the comic strip has the potential to become a major television franchise.
"It is set apart from others in its genre by its cliffhanging stories, social relevance and the keen character humor displayed not only in Luann's persona but in that of her family and friends as well," the company said.
The Luann comic strip features the turbulent life of a typical teenage girl, who is variously dramatic, romantic, funny and unpredictable. Greg Evans, creator of Luann, started the strip after observing his daughter.
