'Nine Lives' could run 12 or 18 hours

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- "Nine Lives," an otherworldly trilogy produced by DreamWorks TV for the SciFi Channel may last 12 hours or maybe 18.

Writer Les Bohem, who wrote SciFi Channel's 20-hour mini-series, "Taken," said it's still too early to outline the plot of "Nine Lives" or the number of hours it will take.

Bohem will write the entire mini-series with Steven Spielberg's guidance as well as Darryl Frank, co-head with Justin Falvey of DreamWorks TV.

Frank and Falvey say the mini-series would run 18 hours but Sci Fi Channel president Bonnie Hammer said "Nine Lives" could end up as 12 hours, Daily Variety reported.

The "Nine Lives" version will be much different from "Taken" in that it won't span a number of generations or feature aliens and spaceships, Variety said.
