HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A feature film based on the myth of a haunted house in Long Island, N.Y., immortalized in the book and film, "The Amityville Horror," is being planned.
Emmett/Furla Films, Barstu Productions and Integrated Films and Management will produce the feature, Daily Variety reported.
In 1974, Ronald DeFeo killed his parents and four siblings while they slept in the Amityville, N.Y., house.
A 1977 account written by Jay Anson claimed the family who bought the house after the DeFeos' demise was tormented by a series of bizarre and bloody supernatural events.
The Anson book was adapted into the popular movie, "The Amityville Horror," released by MGM.
The writer of the new script will be Daniel Farrands, who wrote and directed the TV documentary "Amityville 2000" and the 1995 movie, "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers."
