ABC drops 'Real Roseanne' Show'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Reality bites for "The Real Roseanne Show," which has been yanked by ABC, Daily Variety reported Wednesday.

The network shelved the show, effective this week, after ABC Family decided not to move forward with its "Real Roseanne" spin-off, "The Domestic Goddess Hour."

"Real Roseanne" chronicled kooky comedian Roseanne Barr as she attempted to pitch "Domestic Goddess" to broadcast executives around town. As originally planned, the final episode of "Real Roseanne" would serve as a launching pad for "Domestic Goddess."

But with "Domestic Goddess" no longer in the offing, ABC saw little reason to keep airing the low-rated "Real Roseanne."

Only four episodes of the latter had run, leaving eight unaired segments on the shelf. It's unclear whether those episodes will turn up elsewhere.

ABC will fill "Real Roseanne's" Wednesday 9 p.m. slot with episodes of "The George Lopez Show" and "The Drew Carey Show" until the fall season starts.
