Frehley will not tour with Kiss-Aerosmith

NEW YORK, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Kiss is about to start its co-headlining tour with Aerosmith, but the band's former guitarist, Ace Frehley, will not be part of that tour.

Frehley says he has started working on his seventh, as-yet-untitled, solo record, which he didn't want to delay for another tour with Kiss.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard magazine, Frehley said: "When I finished the last tour, they told me that was it. So I'm not gonna sit around and twiddle my thumbs. I started preparing, before the tour was even over, and built a recording studio on my property and started writing.

"I miss my fans, and I apologize to them if they're let down that I'm not touring with Kiss."

Frehley also told Billboard he didn't like the idea of being an opening act. Although Kiss and Aerosmith are being billed as co-headliners, Aerosmith will close each night on the tour, with a revolving stage used to speed up set changes.
