HOLLYWOOD, July 14 (UPI) -- Cameron Diaz
is in negotiations to star opposite Jim Carrey
in the title role of Columbia Pictures' "Fun With Dick and Jane."
The project, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and produced by Brian Grazerwould, would reunite the actress with the studio for whom she stars in the "Charlie's Angels" franchise.
She a not a stranger to Carrey, she first made her mark in Carrey's 1994 feature, "The Mask."
In "Fun With Dick and Jane," a remake of the 1977 comedy starring George Segal and Jane Fonda, Diaz will play half of an economically distressed married couple who resort to a life of crime.
Diaz has been circling the project for more than a month. Peter Tolan wrote the update of the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
