COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 11 (UPI) -- It doesn't slice, dice or build firm abdominals, but Jerry Springer's new infomercial will stir up talk - and money for a possible U.S. Senate bid in Ohio.
The talk-show host unveiled his 30-minute production in Columbus Thursday, saying the response will dictate whether he takes a run at the Senate.
Viewers are encouraged to call in financial support, the Cincinatti Enquirer reported. For $25, supporters get a T-shirt featuring the logo "Run Jerry Run" in red -- or blue "to match your eyes."
For $100, the former Cincinnati mayor is offering a T-shirt and photo of himself.
The commercials are appearing in off-hours in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New Orleans, San Antonio, New York and Memphis, Tenn.
Springer's campaign team said the ad could raise the millions needed to win a race for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Republican George Voinovich. Springer's team will file official candidacy papers Friday but insist Springer won't decide if he will run until month's end.
