'Move 5' gets Bollywood director

LOS ANGELES, July 8 (UPI) -- Bollywood producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra will team up with Outlaw Productions' Bobby New Myer and Jeff Silver for "Move 5," a psychological thriller.

The movie, which revolves around a chess game, is scheduled to go into production in the fall. Chopra will both produce and direct the picture.

Daily Variety said Chopra does not intend to make the film as a Bollywood crossover, along the lines of "The Guru," but instead is aiming for a "mainstream American psychological thriller" for North American and European target audiences.

"The movie has nothing to do with India," Chopra told Variety. "The only thing Indian about it is one of the props, an antique Indian chess set."

The story involves the friendship between a chess master and a detective, both of whom have lost a daughter. The chess player then is killed and the detective goes to work, with the answer to the mystery tied to an unfinished chess game.

Among Chopra's Bollywood credits are "Parinda," "1942 -- A Love Story" and "Mission Kashmir."

Outlaw's productions have included "Training Day," "National Security" and the upcoming "Mindhunters," which carries the Dimension Films tag.
