Playboy Jazz Festival's silver weekend

LOS ANGELES, June 13 (UPI) -- The 25th annual Playboy Jazz Festival is scheduled Saturday and Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl and will include funnyman and occasional drummer Bill Cosby.

Saturday's lineup includes Boz Scaggs, saxophonist Boney James, singer Daniela Mercury, bassist Dave Holland's quintet, percussionist Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band with special guest James Moody, the Japanese-American fusion band Hiroshima, the Blind Boys of Alabama, singer Lizz Wright and the L.A. Home Grown All Star Big Band featuring Ndugu Chancler, Paul Jackson Jr., Patrice Rushen, Tom Scott and Ernie Watts.

Sunday's finale features singer Al Jarreau, the Dave Brubeck quartet, a "guitars and saxes" set by Richard Elliot, Peter White, Jeff Golub and Steve Cole, drummer Roy Haynes' quartet, Ozomatli, Cuban singer Issac Delgado, Cosby's annual jam band, The Cos of Good Music VIII, featuring Dwayne Burno, Ndugu Chancler, Pete Christlieb, Eddie Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Harold Mabern and Keschia Potter; plus the Bobby Rodriguez Salsa Orchestra.
