SHENYANG, China, July 24 (UPI) -- China's A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. will build a power system in Thailand.

A-Power issued a news release announcing it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand-based National Power Supply Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Advance Agro Public Co. Ltd.

The Chinese power developer said it will construct a $300 million, 600-megawatt distributed power generation system in Thailand's Chachoengsao province.

In its announcement, A-Power said the project is expected to begin in August and probably will take about three-and-a-half years to complete.

Jinxiang Lu, chairman and chief executive officer of A-Power, said the project will be the largest distributed power project for the company.

National Power Supply reportedly provides the majority of electricity to Thailand's state-owned power grid.
