BEIJING, July 21 (UPI) -- China has increased its green power, according to a report from the United Nations.

Statistics released by the U.N. Environment Program suggest wind power plants have become a major attraction for renewable energy investors in China, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The report, "Global Trends in Substantial Energy Investment 2008," suggests China's sustainable energy investments reached a record $10.8 billion in 2007, an increase of 91 percent over 2006.

Large increases in investments have helped China expand its wind power, which doubled to 6 gigawatts in 2007.

Just behind wind power, solar power is also attracting large investments, followed by hydropower.
