DHAKA, Bangladesh, May 14 (UPI) -- The International Atomic Energy Agency will assist Bangladesh in setting up a nuclear power plant.

A three-member delegation of Bangladeshi government officials and nuclear scientists, headed by Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Information Technology S.M. Wahiduzaman, is in Vienna at the invitation of the IAEA to learn more about nuclear power plants, Xinhua reported.

The visit will focus on talks about setting up a $1.5 billion, 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plant. Russia, France, South Korea and several other countries reportedly have expressed interest in helping to finance the nuclear plant.

Bangladesh is among eight developing countries that were approved by the IAEA last year to set up nuclear power plants. Two IAEA officials visited Bangladesh last year and they assured Bangladesh of technical assistance.
