The wind power project, known as the Multiaxis Turbosystem, will be constructed at U.S. Army Intelligence Headquarters in Fort Huachuca, Ariz. The plant allows the option of adding additional wind power plants capable of generating more than 10 megawatt per hour hours of electricity.
The Multiaxis Turbosystem at Fort Huachuca will be built with the newly developed adjustable augmenter and will reportedly provide a reduction in capital, operational and maintenance costs, along with the ability to operate profitably in lower wind speed locations.
MMWP said the new augmenter reduces the electric generation cost below traditional wind turbine technologies and is competitive with fossil fuel power plants like coal and natural gas-burning plants.
