The busts took place at a checkpoint north of Amara, the capital of Missan in Iraq's south.

An anonymous source told the Voices of Iraq news agency "6,380 liters of oil packed in 29 barrels of 220-liter capacity each" were confiscated "en route to leave the province to be sold in the black market."

Iraq continues to face a multibillion-dollar racket stealing both raw and refined crude.

Details of the medicine were not reported, though it was taken from the health departments in the province.
