Sunni group JAR slams U.S.-Iraqi pact

BAGHDAD, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- A letter from the militant Sunni group Jaish al-Rashideen condemned the U.S.-Iraqi security pact and pledged resolve in its resistance movement.

"Jaish al-Rashideen: A Letter From a Friend, Yousef Alasir, One of the Prisoners of the Tyrant Invaders," a letter posted on InfoVlad.net, which often carries jihadist messages, spoke out against the security deal passed by the Iraqi Parliament last week.

The letter announced the group's "rejection of the false sympathy that we hear today from people of the political process, those who are seeking to sign the resolution of the sale of Iraq through loyalty to other than Allah."

Jaish al-Rashideen began conducting guerrilla attacks against U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq following the 2003 invasion. It, along with eight other groups, including The 1920 Revolution Brigades, joined forces under an umbrella organization, The Front for Jihad and Change.

JAR has claimed responsibility for several attacks on U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq, including a 2007 bombing of a vehicle believed used by the CIA.

The letter also took aim at the Sunni Awakening Councils, a tribal group that played an active role in driving al-Qaida out of several parts of Iraq, for cooperating with U.S. forces.
