The Saudi-based Al Basaer Newspaper Monday carried a column that said the fifth year of the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq had passed and the situation in Iraq reflects the missteps of the occupier and its "tails" in the government.

The column, with the headline "The fifth anniversary and the policy of constancy and constants," said the occupier witnessed inner divisions due to the war in Iraq and its claim of fixing the situation. It said the U.S. administration was struggling between solving the war in Iraq and finding solutions for the collapsing U.S. economy.

It also said the reason of U.S. national security has turned the region into a battlefield.

"Five years into this war and the U.S. administration still has no awareness of what the future might hold for Iraq and the region," it said.

It said the situation in Iraq became a terrifying shock due to the loss of human and material resources, and the downfall of the U.S. reputation. It also said the innovative chaos created by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice after the "shocking" and "terrifying" period was an attempt after the loss of the basics of the game.

The paper, published by the Association of Muslim Scholars, said the Iraqi resistance was the only player that taught the occupier and regional countries a good lesson. It said the resistance ensured that President Bush's attempt to use democracy to dominate the region failed.

"The Iraqi resistance and those who oppose the presence of the occupier drew a map for the game and controlled it," it said.

Al Basaer also said sides that supported the resistance become more insistent every passing day.

Referring to the political process in Iraq, it said it was a serious test for those who served their personal interests by cooperating with the invaders instead of serving their people.

"The constants that the opposition groups announced haven't changed. It is the people who want to serve their interests who tried to change the direction of the entire process."

It said the same way the Iraqi government sets up a plan to measure the levels of reconstruction, and the occupier measures its failures and loss, the Iraqi resistance has clear ways to measure its rejection of the occupier.

"Our victory will be announced when the occupiers leave our country and when their entire political process in Iraq fails," the paper said.
