NEW DELHI, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Police in India's Uttar Pradesh state say six suspected Islamist rebels arrested Sunday were trained in Pakistan.
It said the suspects came to the state to collect arms and fellow militants to carry out terror attacks in Mumbai.
One of those arrested, Mohammad Shareef, confessed he attended Lashkar-e-Toiba training camps in Pakistan in 2001-02, said Brij Lal, additional director general of Uttar Pradesh police.
He said the original plan of the militants was to target an army convoy moving between Bareilly and Rampur, but this plan failed.
