"This morning, the regional government sent humanitarian assistance, including medicines and necessary household requirements to Ninewa province to be distributed to the victims of the terrorist attack that tore through the city a few days ago," Gov. Nozad Hadi said in a statement.

Hadi said the humanitarian aid sends a message of Kurdish and Mosul solidarity to militants in the region, Voice of Iraq said.

"The assistance sends a message to the terrorists that the region is standing by Mosul residents in their fight against terror," Hadi said.

Provincial leaders said the bombing in western Mosul Wednesday left 169 wounded and 36 dead.
