BAGHDAD, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Coalition forces in Iraq have captured several individuals believed to have connections to al-Qaida in central and northern Iraq.

Coalition officials say several individuals allegedly attempting to re-establish a Baghdad car-bombing operation have been captured during several recent operations, according to the Multi-National Force-Iraq.

An alleged terrorist cell leader in the southern part of Mosul has also been captured by coalition forces after what officials say is a history of terrorist activity and associations with several al-Qaida senior leaders.

Additional operations on Sunday north of Habbaniyah led to a location where three suspects were detained at what officials believe was an al-Qaida safe house. Coalition forces also detained a suspected terrorist southwest of Kirkuk while targeting an associate of an al-Qaida in Iraq member believed to be the senior terrorist leader in the province.

"This operation is another example of our continued success against al-Qaida," said Army Maj. Winfield Danielson, a Multi-National Force-Iraq spokesman, in a statement. "Their networks are being systematically dismantled by Iraqi and coalition forces, disrupting their operations, diminishing their pool of manpower and limiting their ability to attack innocent Iraqis."
