Alleged terrorist arrested in Bangladesh

NEW DELHI, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- India says it has achieved a breakthrough in the twin blasts in Hyderabad following the detention of an alleged Islamist militant in Bangladesh.

According to Indian security agencies, investigations into the twin blasts are progressing briskly with the detention of Abdul Bari alias Abu Hamza in Bangladesh. In India, he is regarded as a most-wanted terrorist and a member of Harket-ul-Jihad-e-Islami, which is suspected to have carried out the Aug. 25 blasts that killed 42 people were wounded 54.

The agencies said the arrested militant was the second-in-command of the group; Shahid alias Bilal is commander of the organization in south India, they said.
