Jan. 20 (UPI) -- BAE Systems has received a $51 million contract to perform depot maintenance for the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Roosevelt.

In addition to maintenance operations, the contract includes modernization and repair services for the ship.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the work will be performed in Jacksonville, Fla., and is expected to be complete by April 2018.

The agreement includes options that can potentially raise the contract value to $68 million. BAE Systems received $32 million in funds at the time of the contract award. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

USS Roosevelt is the 30th destroyer of the Arleigh Burke-class, and the 13th constructed at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Miss. The U.S. Navy commissioned the vessel in October 2000.
