DUSSELDORF, Germany, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Germany's Rheinmetall Landsysteme and Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles are now under joint management following a business reorganization.

Parent company Rheinmetall AG said that under the consolidation the businesses will be known as its Vehicle Systems division, a single-source provider of tracked and wheeled military vehicles and turret solutions.

Under the new structure, Rheinmetall Defence will consist of three divisions: Vehicle Systems, Electronic Solutions and Weapons and Ammunition.

The ownership structure of RMMV, in which MAN Truck & Bus AG holds a 49 percent stake, remains unchanged.

"Clear market trends explain the need for the new division: Customers today are more interested in systems than platforms," Rheinmetall AG said. "Large, highly complex procurement program are placing ever-greater requirements on the defense sector."
