Airbus Defense and Space in Asian collaboration deal

Airbus Defense and Space and Malaysia’s Sapura Secured Technologies have agreed to collaborate in the development and marketing of military electronic systems.

TOULOUSE, France, April 18 (UPI) -- Europe’s Airbus Defense and Space and Malaysia’s Sapura Secured Technologies have partnered for the development and marketing of military electronics.

The focus of the collaboration is the field of C4ISR – command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Airbus Defense and Space said projects will include joint development of key products in the field of planning and data fusion systems for the military and commercialization of the systems.

"Airbus Defense and Space is very pleased to have been selected for establishing a long-term partnership with Sapura Secured Technologies,” said Christian Scherer, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, Airbus Defense and Space. “This confirms our strategy in Malaysia and our ambition for Airbus Defense and Space’s cooperation with strategic partners in Malaysia.

“Furthermore, we are looking at extending the partnership beyond Malaysia to address future business and market development activities in the C4ISR global market."

Added Zarif Hashim, chief executive officer of Sapura Secured Technologies: “This collaboration will enable Sapura to leverage on Airbus Defense and Space’s proven C4ISR technology to develop world-class C4ISR solutions for our customers.

"Our joint development activities will reinforce Sapura’s leadership in advanced engineering technology and system integration competency to aggregate multiple systems and information onto one intelligent and interactive operational platform.”

Additional details on the collaborative agreement were not provided.
